For Chris Sellars, photography is more than an art form—it's a language. After spending several years in front of the camera as a fashion model, he grew a desire to highlight the stories unfolding behind the lens. His experience and unique perspective motivated him to capture the moments and communities that so often go unseen.
Born and raised in Lewisham, South London, Chris draws inspiration from a community known for producing artists, athletes, and visionaries. Now based in Portugal, his work explores the Black experience across Europe, documenting culture, identity, and everyday life through an authentic and intimate lens. His work challenges stereotypes while celebrating the richness, depth, and diversity of Black communities throughout Europe.
Chris believes the most powerful images are the ones that provide context to community. Through his work, he aims to continue to educate, inspire, and create a deeper understanding of lives and experiences that are continuously overlooked.
